Introducing MBC 2.0: Vision and Initial Features
The behavioral health landscape has undergone a remarkable evolution in recent years. With significant treatment innovations and the growing adoption of evidence-based practices–like Measurement-Based Care (MBC)–the industry is more equipped than ever before to drive ongoing and continuous improvement of behavioral health services.
To support this evolution, Greenspace has built and perfected the technology necessary to transform measurement from a reporting exercise to a process that, first and foremost, provides meaningful clinical value to clients and clinicians. With over 500 MBC implementations to date and over 5 million assessments completed through Greenspace, we’ve seen an average symptom improvement of 49% and an average therapeutic alliance of 81% across all users. Qualitatively, we hear from our partners every day about the immense value that MBC is bringing to their organization. They’re able to proactively identify and address clients with deteriorating symptoms or suicidality, improve treatment planning, and leverage the data from patient-reported outcome measures (PROM’s) to identify any gaps in their treatment offerings, iterate services, and improve their overall understanding of their population’s needs and how to meet them.
As an organization committed to the consistent and ongoing quality improvement and innovation of behavioral health services, we see an opportunity to leverage burgeoning technology to bring MBC into the future and ensure it’s responding to the needs and feedback of clinicians and clinical leaders. By embracing new and rapidly improving AI and predictive analytics technology, we can meaningfully increase the impact of MBC, enhance client and clinician engagement, eliminate measurement burden, and empower clinicians and clinical leaders to drastically improve the quality of care available to anyone in need of support.
Today, we are thrilled to unveil a substantial upgrade to Greenspace’s MBC platform:
MBC 2.0: The Future of Measurement-Based Care
Introducing our vision for our next-generation MBC platform: enhanced measurement capabilities, AI-driven automated insights, natural language risk scoring, workflow automation and intelligence, and a host of other advancements poised to deliver a greater impact than ever before–without compromising our privacy and security standards which continue to exceed all regulatory requirements. There are three major areas where MBC 2.0 will revolutionize how care can be delivered:
MBC Workflow Automation and Intelligence
MBC 2.0 embeds more intelligent and automated workflows that enhance MBC implementation and facilitate seamless adoption for clients and clinicians. With a more autonomous MBC platform, organizations can accelerate time to strong adoption amongst clients and clinicians, enabling them to focus on leveraging insights from MBC to drive treatment improvements and innovations.
Actionable and Intuitive Insights
MBC 2.0 delivers automatic insights, customized recommendations, and highlighted themes that empower clinicians and individuals in care with information that is easy to understand and simple to act on. Actionable and intuitive insights drive the increased impact of MBC by leveraging AI and predictive models to identify clients that are on track, at risk or off track, as well as identify those who are not responding to treatment (treatment non-response). By flagging anomalies in patient outcome data, clinics can proactively address potential issues and improve the overall impact of their services. This goes beyond gathering and visualizing high-quality data by providing time-strapped clinicians with automatic client insights that inform treatment planning and decision-making. Clinics can customize these insights and recommendations based on their specific needs and priorities, ensuring a tailored, consistent and effective approach to client care.
Enhanced measurement and data integration capabilities
MBC 2.0 introduces innovative data collection models to measure symptoms and progress beyond the traditional self-report assessment process. These methods can be more engaging than completing traditional patient-reported outcome measures and are integral to delivering more equitable services that support the unique needs of any client or clinician. With the integration of multiple data points (eg., insurance usage, demographics, past episodes of care), MBC 2.0 will paint a comprehensive picture of where clients are at in treatment, inform the most appropriate and effective service type for each individual, and drive deeper insights and learnings across all levels of care.
MBC 2.0 Starts Now
While there is much more in our technology roadmap for this year, we’re excited to announce four new MBC 2.0 features that are in or nearing Beta with existing Greenspace clinical partners. We’ll provide more detail on each new feature in the coming months, but below is a sneak peek into the enhancements that are being leveraged to drive enhanced MBC value in practice.
Benchmarking Unlocks Crucial Context
Designed to empower organizations with the necessary context to interpret and analyze the various metrics they’re collecting, organizations now have access to aggregate MBC benchmarking data from clinical implementations across North America. This new feature offers real-time insight into each organization’s progress related to clinical outcomes, clinician adoption, and client engagement, with the ability to easily compare their results to both average and strong implementations of MBC. This allows organizations to leverage utilization and outcome benchmarks from MBC implementations of similar organizations to inform their implementation goals based on their clinical priorities, as well as identify areas of opportunity or improvement. Whether it’s the percentage of clients that are consistently completing assessments, the number of clinicians who regularly review their clients’ results, or clinical symptom improvement—organizations can now compare their data to similar organizations at similar time frames throughout their implementation (eg. 6 months, 1 year, 3 years, etc.).
The “MBC Benchmarks” dashboard is available to all admins in the Analytics tab.
Smart Client Insights that Fit Any Workflow
Our new Insights feature was designed to arm clinicians with a condensed and comprehensive snapshot of a client’s most important outcome information, such as reliable change, deterioration trends, off-track outcomes, or low therapeutic alliance. Clinicians can quickly review recent changes in their client’s condition before a session, identify any anomalies or areas of concern, and reduce the risk of missing important fluctuations in their data, without having to review an individual’s full results. This ensures that clinicians can quickly review and take into account the most important information prior to a session, and allows supervisors to uncover clients that are most important to address during clinical supervision discussions.
Insights are available to all clinicians on the patient Assessment Results pages.
Caseload Assistant Enables Intelligent Triage
Imagine if your clinicians had their own personal assistant dedicated to identifying which clients should be prioritized based on factors like suicidality, low engagement, deterioration, or low therapeutic alliance. Our innovative Caseload Assistant transforms how clinicians with large caseloads manage their clients. It helps them appropriately triage new clients, determine who needs which type(s) of support, and identify clients who may need treatment adjustments or may be ready for discharge—all in one streamlined interface.
Caseload Assistant is not only a significant MBC enhancement for clinicians but also empowers clinical leaders to improve case review processes, ensuring that critical treatment discussions and decisions are based on comprehensive, objective, and timely insights.
Caseload assistant is now available for beta users. Please fill out this form if you are interested in joining.
Mental Health Assessment through Voice Analysis
We’ve partnered with Ellipsis Health to enable clinicians to leverage their speech analysis technology in order to harness the client voice as a biomarker for mental health and well-being. Through the power of machine learning, AI, and natural language processing, Ellipsis Health generates a clinical-grade assessment of the severity of, and risk for, anxiety and depression based on a simple voice recording from any client. This provides service organizations and clinicians with an innovative way to collect and score assessments, which can be particularly impactful for clients who have missed assessments or may struggle to complete them throughout treatment. This voice-recorded measurement can fit seamlessly alongside PROMs to paint a complete picture of any client’s experience and can help identify areas where PROM results may diverge from what is being communicated in care or captured within assessments, highlighting key topics or themes to discuss with a client.
Please complete this form if you are interested in joining our beta group of voice measurement users later this year.
